KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the letter informing him of his suspension from Umno did not give a reason for the action.

Hishammuddin said on Twitter that he just received the official letter regarding his suspension today.

"Baru sahaja terima surat rasmi bertarikh semalam berhubung penggantungan keahlian saya. Tiada sebab penggantungan dinyatakan. (Just received the official letter dated yesterday regarding the suspension of my membership. No reason for the suspension was stated.)," Hishammuddin tweeted.

He also posted on Twitter the letter which was signed by Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

Last Friday, Umno announced the suspension of Hishammuddin, who is Sembrong member of parliament, former Umno information chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan, Tebrau Umno division chief Datuk Maulizan Bujang and Jempol Umno division chief Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Shariff from the party for six years.

The party also announced sacking of former Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and former Tanjung Karang member of parliament Tan Sri Noh Omar.

The party also sacked members from Pahang Umno (26), Putrajaya Umno (nine), Pasir Gudang Umno (five) and Tanjong Karang Umno (two).
