KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Supreme Council member Isham Jalil hits out at a Pas leader who allegedly likes to accuse others of corruption but thinks of himself as 'clean'.

"Without any shame, these groups bribed voters in God's name. Maybe Allah SWT wants to reveal the lies.

"And when people report (their acts) to the police and file petition on them, they defended themselves with 'dalil' (religious justification) and labeled bribes as charity.

"Next, these groups will claim it depends on one's intention and will say that others are also doing the same," he said in a statement today.

It was believed that he was responding to several Pas leaders, including its information chief Khairil Nizam Khiruddin and youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari which defended a statement by its president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang who said that individual contributions during the 15th General Election (GE15) was sedekah (donation for charity).

He also hit out on claims that Umno had no moral legitimacy to question the issue of corruption and that Umno ia merely pointing fingers to cover up its corrupt actions.

He said that the end goal does not justify the means and that it is better to struggle and be sincere as long as one is on the right path, rather than taking the easy way out by going on the wrong path.

"Blessings in the struggle and how we win are important, not just the goal of winning. Let us lose with dignity rather than win with corruption.

"During the time of the Messenger of Allah, there were groups whose behaviour was like yours. Outwardly they appeared pious and always used religion and relied on the verses of the Qur'an but behind closed doors, they did the wrong things, and they were called hypocrites. Rasulullah hated and fought against hypocrites," he said.

He also said that Pas were acting in such a way after working together with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

"You (leaders) are in comfort and chose the wrong path. You no longer used the Milo can but instead are able to stay in five star hotels during campaigning until you can not differentiate between charity and bribe.

"Do not be blinded by money. Reflect and repent before it's too late. Go back to the right path," he added.
