KUALA LUMPUR: Umno supreme council members will be participating in a workshop to focus on 'revamping' the party post 15th General Election (GE15).

Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the focus will be on new ideas to move forward as a party.

"The supreme council members will hold a workshop to discuss the outcome of GE15 following recommendations by the Wanita Umno delegates in yesterday's debate session for the party to return to the drawing board to revamp, reform and renew the party.

"The three factors that caused the defeat of Umno were the voters' emotions which caused such results in GE15, the maturity of young voters and money politics.

"These three caused not only big names from our party to lose, but also those in Pakatan Harapan. Even leaders from Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's party lost their deposits," he said during his winding up speech at the 2022 Umno General Assembly held at World Trade Centre (WTCKL) here today.

Zahid also gave Umno's three wings a month to come up with new recommendations to revamp the party.

He said the voters, especially the youth, were manipulated by social media influencers such as in TikTok where religion-inclined posts were used to target youth in the rural areas.

"I want Wanita, Youth and Puteri to sit together on the change of workflow using technology and new media.

"Discuss and find new ideas. I expect new findings that can be shared with the party within a month.

"Hold a workshop or a brainstorming session between the excos soon," he said.
