KUALA LUMPUR: Sungai Besar Umno division chief Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos has called on the party's disciplinary board to take action against Khairy Jamaluddin.

This, he said, was following the former youth chief's statement that there was a move to ensure the additional motion for a no-contest stance for Umno's top two posts to be passed without any hindrance at the party's general assembly today.

"His claim that the hall where the assembly is ongoing was filled with "phantom delegates" is baseless. As such, I urge the Umno disciplinary board to take action against Khairy for his statement.

"I will also lodge a report and hope that Khairy is suspended as an Umno member, as his statement is embarrassing and a disgrace to the party," he said in a press conference at the media centre of the 2022 Umno General Assembly here.

Meanwhile, Jamal denied claims that some of the delegates' tags, which were initially pasted on seats in Dewan Merdeka were removed to make way for unknown delegates to be part of the vote.

Jamal said he was unaware of the seat tags, and believed that the claims were to create unrest in the assembly.
