KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan has squarely rejected Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's "insincere" offers to the opposition that were made in exchange for bipartisan support.

In its presidential council statement signed by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, the coalition said Muhyiddin's plea proved that he had lost command of parliamentary majority.

"This necessitates the execution of Article 43(4) of the Federal Constitution, in which he (Muhyiddin) has to resign. For the first time in the country's history, a prime minister has openly admitted his loss of majority and is subsequently insisting for the opposition's support."

PH also alleged that the offers made by Muhyiddin were forms of bribery and claimed the latter had cast aside the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's prerogative under Article 43(2)(a) of the Federal Constitution, for stating that none of the current members of parliament possessed the command of majority.

Muhyiddin had earlier in a televised speech, among others, offered ministerial perks to be accorded to the opposition leader and a guarantee to table a bill to set a two-term limit for the prime minister's post, in exchange for the opposition's support to ensure his continuity as the country's top executive.

"Hence, we reject the insincere offers made by Muhyiddin. Those were things that should have been implemented earlier and not upon reaching the end his political lifeline.

"The focus should instead be given on saving the people's lives and not his political career."
