IPOH: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has arrived at the Istana Kinta here for an audience with the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.
This is the second time the Bagan Datuk Member of Parliament, who arrived at Istana Kinta at 9.57am, is meeting with Sultan Nazrin in as many days.
It is learnt that Ahmad Zahid will submit the names of Menteri Besar candidates from the party to Sultan Nazrin.
Meanwhile, Perak Umno chairman, Datuk Saarani Mohamad, was also seen entering the palace at 9.57am.
On Sunday, Ahmad Zahid had an audience with the Sultan and told reporters that he did not rule out the possibility of a new coalition forming the Perak state government.
Yesterday, Umno picked Saarani, who is the Kota Tampan state assemblyman, as the party's preferred candidate for the vacant Perak Menteri Besar post.
Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin said a special Umno Supreme Council meeting last night agreed unanimously to back Saarani for the post.
