KUALA LUMPUR: Pas will not be part of the new Perak government formation, said its secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan.

He said Pas took note of the outcome of the Vote of Confidence at the Perak State Assembly on Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu today.

He informed that the party's three representatives in the state assembly voted to back the motion, in line with the stand taken by Pas' political bureau.

"In line with the outcome, Pas has taken the position of not participating in the new Perak State Government formation efforts.

"Even so, Pas will continue to play its role as usual at the State or national level," Takiyuddin said in a statement, today.

Ahmad Faizal failed to obtain the majority support of the state assemblymen in the vote of confidence on the Menteri Besar at the State Assembly sitting today.

The Chenderiang assemblyman, received votes of support from 10 assemblymen, while 48 others voted against him, and one abstained from voting.

The motion was moved by Pengkalan Baru assemblyman Datuk Abd Manap Hashim of Barisan Nasional (BN) .

The Perak State Assembly comprises 25 Umno assemblymen, DAP (16), Bersatu (5), Amanah (5), PKR (3), PAS (3), one Gerakan and one Independent.
