KOTA KINABALU: Election Commission (EC) is expecting tomorrow’s nomination for Kimanis by-election to be smooth sailing and without any untoward incidents.

Kimanis returning officer Jupery Etok said everything was in place to handle the process including ensuring that supporters abide by the relevant laws, regulations and ethics throughout the period.

The Beaufort district officer said a total of 50 personnel, including EC staff, and 65 observers from various agencies would be deployed on the nomination day.

"We have held a meeting with the representatives from Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) and Barisan Nasional (BN) as well as the police.

"I am hoping that supporters would abide by the rules.

"At the same time, I hope the representatives will ensure that candidates check their own nomination form to ensure accuracy of the information provided,” he said.

The nomination centre, located at Dewan Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Mohd Dun Banir in Beaufort will be open at 9am and closed about one hour later.

As of today, Jupery said 10 forms have been bought by various parties including from Warisan and BN.
