PONTIAN: "I want to be the third force in Parliament (Dewan Rakyat)," said independent candidate Dr Ang Chuan Lock, 49.

Dr Ang put his name in the hat as a candidate for the Tanjung Piai by-election during the nomination process today.

The tuition centre principal said he was confident he would provide the best voice for the rakyat should he be elected as Tanjung Piai MP this Nov 16.

Speaking to reporters at the nomination centre in Dewan Jubli Intan Sultan Ibrahim, here, today, Dr Ang said he will be assisted by his wife who will use the Internet to campaign for this by-election.

"I will use social media platforms as my main campaign medium, as it is more convenient.

"Of course my campaign will focus on fighting for education for the present generation," he said.

"Although this is my first time, I am confident of my efforts. I am confident that my experience in the education field will help me in this by-election," Dr Ang who will be contesting under the "key" symbol said.

According to him, his wife has been very supportive of his endeavour.

Dr Ang will face Pakatan Harapan's Karmaine Sardini, Barisan Nasional's Dtuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng, Gerakan's Wendy Subramaniam, Berjasa's Datuk Dr Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz and independent Faridah Aryani Abd Ghani.
