KOTA BARU: PAS has confirmed it will campaign for Barisan Nasional (BN) in the upcoming Semenyih state by-election.

Its deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the cooperation between both parties was forged at the ceremony to introduce the candidate yesterday which was also attended by PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan.

"We will do what we had done at the Cameron Highlands parliamentary by-election.

"On nomination day, PAS will be represented by vice-presidents Datuk Idris Ahmad and Datuk Ismandar Abdul Samad, and Takiyuddin," he told a media conference after the Murabbi Ummah Forum Council at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium grounds, here last night.

Yesterday, BN announced local Umno leader Zakaria Hanafi, 58, as its candidate for the Semenyih state by-election on March 2.

On BN chances, the Kubang Kerian member of parliament said he could see a wave of change happening there.

"It will be tough for BN, but a win is not impossible. We hope the by-election will go on smoothly, "he added.
