BUTTERWORTH: Penang Umno wants stern action taken against the mastermind which helped the group of Umno member of parliaments (MPs) to leave the party recently.
State Umno chairman Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir said that the person’s move to sabotage the party is disappointing and action must be taken against the irresponsible individuals.
“If the party leaders know the mastermind, then they should take action as this person is sabotaging the party.
“Do not only take action against members, but also do it against others higher up if it was found that the person is the mastermind. It is okay to lose one or two (members), no matter who they are,” said Musa.
Previously former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin claimed that there was a “bangsawan” (member of the nobility) who had been behind the action of several Sabah Umno leaders leaving the party
It was believed that Khairy’s claim was referring to former Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
However Hishammuddin had dismissed the claim that he was the mastermind resulting in the increasing number of Umno representatives leaving the party.
Meanwhile, Musa also pledged Penang Umno support towards the leadership of its president Datuk Seri Dr Ahamd Zahid Hamidi.
He also said Umno does not need ab Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) and the party leaders just have to carry out their duties as usual.
“As long as he is our president we will support him and whoever succeeds him, we will still support the new president.
“The meeting is unnecessary unless the president and deputy president leave the party. We have the party constitution,” he added.
