ARAU: Supporters of a candidate in the Perlis PKR election today affixed photos of their choice competitor in a list of candidates’ names, creating confusion among voters.

The move was blasted as unethical by visibly-angry state PKR chairman Mohammad Faisol Abd Rahman.

The Arau division deputy head said the incident at PKR’s Arau selection centre caused a commotion this morning. However, he said the situation was defused by officers in charge.

“We would have no issues if they came to campaign or put up posters of their candidate, no matter how big.

“But they should not put stickers of their candidate on the voters’ candidates list,” he said when met at the selection centre at the Asri Mat Isa Business Centre here.

Faisol was earlier seen confronting the guilty party – believed to be a group of PKR members from Kedah.

A total of 5,490 Perlis PKR members were eligible to vote for the party’s central and divisional leadership today.

The Perlis PKR selection was initially scheduled for Sept 23, but was postponed over a failure in the e-voting system.
