SHAH ALAM: PKR Election Committee has been told to act swiftly should it come across any of its officers interfering in the party’s electronic voting (e-voting) process which started on Sept 14. It ends on Oct 30.

PKR Wanita deputy chief hopeful Rodziah Ismail said the committee needed to be more efficient in resolving cases of its officers who were said to have told members who they should vote for.

“The committee must avert any incidence where its officers intervene during a member’s voting process. The officer cannot vote on behalf of a member as their duty is to observe and monitor the on-goings at the polling stations. They must accord the right to vote to the party members.

“It is no doubt that many are not familiar with the e-voting system. There are elderly members and those who have never used it before. I urge the officers to guide them on how to go about it based on who they want to pick. This is to ensure transparency of the on-going party election,” said Rodziah today.

She said she was informed that there were a few instances at several divisions and it was up to the committee to evaluate if the complaints were genuine.

“I hope those who have proof will come forward as we do not want to make accusations based on hearsay. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stressed that if thereis solid proof he will not hesitate to get rid of them from the party or not be given election committee duties anymore,” she said.

Rodziah was commenting on claims made by Rafizi Ramli who reportedly said that in Labis, Johor, election committee officers had stood next to members and instructed members on who to vote for.

He subsequently called for the election results in the Labis division to be declared null and void.

Rafizi had also alleged that election committee members from his rival Datuk Seri Azmin Ali’s Gombak division and those aligned to him, were deliberately placed in several divisions in Johor to ensure their win.
