KUALA LUMPUR: Outgoing PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail wants party members to refrain from employing “dirty tactics” in its upcoming polls next month.

The deputy prime minister also called on PKR members to display their commitment towards democracy and the struggle for the party’s principles.

“After the recently-concluded 14th general election, we have successfully become the most dominant party in the government, and have reached a stage where the democratic process is being carried out well.

“Hence, we do not want to see any negative element or personal attacks to topple one another in this party election,” Dr Wan Azizah told a press conference today at the PKR headquarters.

Also present was her husband, PKR de facto leader and incoming party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Dr Wan Azizah urged party members to adopt “familial elements” instead in the polls.

“We want a clean election process done in a familial spirit,” she said.

The PKR elections are scheduled to begin on Sept 14 and will take place over the course of nine weeks.

Official results will be announced at the PKR national congress in November.
