MARUDI: The opposition will use every tactic in the book to mislead voters in the Baram parliamentary seat during the final hours of the campaign period today.

Assistant State Local Government Minister Datuk Penguang Manggil did not discount the spread of fake news as the last attempt by the opposition to gain support from voters in the 14th General Election (GE14).

Penguang, who is also the Marudi state assemblyman, however, believes that the people in Baram were not a gullible lot and wise in differentiating between fake news and actual fact.

“Based on our observation, we found that the opposition is more prone to mar the reputation of Barisan Nasional leaders rather than explaining to the people what they have done for the people in Baram.

“There is the stark difference between BN leaders and the opposition in the Baram parliamentary constituency.

“We carry out our campaign with credibility explaining our vision for a better future while the opposition is reduce to just smear campaign,” he said during a gathering with the people event in Kampung Pemindahan here.

Present was BN candidate for the Baram parliamentary constituency, Anyi Ngau.

Penguang said BN had a line-up of credible leaders in Baram that could bring positive changes to Sarawak.

“Having that said, I hope the people in Baram will make the right choice when they cast their votes on polling day.

“Do not be influenced by your emotions but think wisely before casting your votes,” he said.
