MARUDI: The incumbent for the Baram parliamentary seat, Anyi Ngau, of Barisan Nasional (BN) will be facing off with his relative again.

The seat will see a straight fight between Anyi, 60, and PKR’s Roland Engan, 46, who had lost to the former during the last general election (GE13) in 2013.

The official announcement on the candidacy was made by returning officer for the parliamentary seat, Marcus Ibong, at 11.04am.

The contest in Baram is shaping into a tough battle since Anyi won the parliamentary seat with a slim majority of 194 votes in a three-cornered fight during GE13.

Anyi polled 9,182 votes against Roland’s 8,988 votes. The third candidate, an independent, Patrick Sibat Sujang, only obtained 363 votes.
