KUALA LUMPUR: The Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, where the launching of the Barisan Nasional (BN) 14th general election (GE14) manifesto will be held on Saturday evening, is expected to become a sea of blue.

Umno executive secretary Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the arena would, first of all, be decorated with BN flags and buntings, while the coalition’s members from all around the country are expected to be wearing blue as well.

“The theme will be ‘biru pilihanku’ and we will turn the (arena) blue to welcome all the members. This is to show our support and solidarity. So far, preparations are 98 per cent completed... some 40,000 BN members nationwide are expected to turn up at the launching ceremony.

“On security, we have already discussed with police and other related authorities to tighten safety and security procedures, including providing metal detectors,” he told reporters.

Rauf said BN officials had also asked Prasarana Malaysia Bhd to extend its public transportation service hours till 1am.

“Prasarana has agreed to do so, especially for those who use the Light Rail Transit,” he said.

Asked what sort of symbolic gesture would be used at the launch of the manifesto, Rauf declined to reveal details.

However, he did say that every state was expected to show off its respective “war cry” to further enliven the event.

Preparations for the even began on Wednesday, with Rauf chairing a technical meeting attended by BN representatives from each state and agencies such as police, Fire and Rescue Department and Rela.
