ALOR STAR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) leaders have only themselves to blame as the young party becomes a "parti huru-hara" (chaotic party) following its failure to manage and resolve its problem with its constitution.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said PPBM leaders should take the blame for failing to live up to their supporters' high expectations.

Bashah said PPBM leaders should be held accountable for the "huru-hara" (chaos) in the party, which has seen an exodus of its members and even founding members.

"It is their own members who are making public statements over alleged discrepancies and the party's lack of direction, not us (Umno).

"The people can see for themselves what is happening in the party and draw their own judgment on PPBM's ability to offer itself as an alternative to Umno and Barisan Nasional," he told reporters after presenting free bicycles to 500 needy students in Alor Star parliament constituency, donated by the corporate sector and philanthropists at SMK Simpang Kuala here today.

At the event, Bashah also presented ang pow and oranges from the Information Department to 46 residents in the constituency in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year festivities l.

Bashah was commenting on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak remarks yesterday that PPBM was a "parti huru-hara" (chaotic party) following its failure to manage and resolve its problem with its constitution.

Najib was reported as saying in Muar yesterday that PPBM has failed to manage the party's branch and divisional despite copying Umno's constitution, which resulting in the its own grassroots filing complaints to the Registrar of Societies (ROS).

Bashah said Najib was right in labelling PPBM as a party "huru-hara" for the chaos in the Umno splinter party.

He said PPBM and its partners in Pakatan Harapan (PH) also could not even reach an agreement on seat distribution in certain states for the 14th General Election (GE14), which proved that there was no "sepakat" (unity) among them.

"Despite these chaos and shortcomings, PPBM and Pakatan Harapan still have the guts to claim that they are going to wrest four states including Kedah in the next general election from Barisan Nasional while retaining Penang and Selangor," he said.
