HUTAN MELINTANG: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has indicated his intention to contest elsewhere as he is expected to lose in his Gombak seat in the coming general election, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Zahid said Azmin sensed the imminent defeat as he was aware of the problems he was facing in his constituency.

He said this was why Azmin had indicated his intention to contest in either Pekan or Bagan Datuk parliementary seats.

“Maybe, that person (Azmin) is expected to lose in his constituency and this is why he wants to try his luck elsewhere,” he told reporters after a simultaneous opening of three 1Malaysia Internet centres for Kampung Teluk Buluh, Kampung Selekoh and Pekan Bagan Datuk in Kampung Teluk Buluh here today.

Najib and Zahid are members of paliament for Pekan and Bagan Datuk, respectively.

Azmin had reportedly said he would consider contesting in Pekan or Bagan Datuk in the next election.

Zahid said Azmin should fully carry out his reponsibility to Gombak constituents before shifting to another seat.

“Please make improvements in service especially on providing basic facilities to the voters before moving to another seat,” he said.

Zahid said the Selangor Menteri Besar was not serious when making the statement on his intention to contest in either Pekan or Bagan Datuk.

“I know he is being playful, but in politics (he) should not be petty,” he said.
