KUALA LUMPUR: Despite three years of homelessness, Ross Ariffin's fingers still dance gracefully across the keys of the grand piano.

Even with two strokes and a broken hand that had not fully healed, the melody flowed effortlessly from his fingers.

In a heartwarming video shared by Communication Minister Fahmi Fadzil on his Facebook today, Ross Ariffin was captured reconnecting with a piano after their encounter at a closed event.

"What a breathtaking sight. Ross rediscovered his connection to the piano after three years of homelessness, his fingers gliding effortlessly across the keys," he wrote.

Ross Ariffin, a celebrated composer whose compositions have been sung by the likes of Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, Ning Baizura, Jacklyn Victor, and Fauziah Latiff, now finds himself facing an unexpected challenge.

Moved by Ross's story, Fahmi felt compelled to lend a helping hand after stumbling upon his plight on social media.

"After our meeting, Ross shared his heartbreaking journey of surviving on the streets, often scavenging for leftovers on tables, sometimes going without food until nightfall.

"Despite facing the aftermath of two strokes and an unhealed broken hand, Ross remains determined to rebuild his life."

Fahmi disclosed that Ross is in need of a new keyboard and additional funds to kickstart his journey anew.

Following Fahmi's post, an outpouring of support flooded in from social media users, including fellow artists and politicians, eager to assist Ross.

Among them is Machang Bubok Assemblyman Lee Khai Loon, who pledged a personal donation of RM5000 to Ross.

"If we can locate him, we can help him. I will personally donate RM5000 to Ross," he commented.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa assured that Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) would assist the renowned composer.

"YBM Fahmi Fadzil, I will get DBKL to assist. God willing," she affirmed.

Veteran artist Datuk Fauziah Nawi echoed the sentiments, urging relevant parties to step forward and give Ross a fresh start.

"May there be someone who champions Ross's fate"
