KUALA LUMPUR: A social media post on the exceptional care offered by the Malaysian healthcare system, as well as its affordability, has caught the attention of netizens.

On the social media platform X, the netizen, Richard Ker (@richardker), posted about his 82-year-old father who recently went through a significant surgical procedure requiring local anaesthesia.

In the post which has since gone viral with over 180,000 views, he shared about the healthcare system in Malaysia, highlighting the remarkable care that his father received.

"I read about it many times on social media. But I personally experienced it over the last few days," he said.

His detailed description of the three-day experience at Queen Elizabeth General Hospital, Kota Kinabalu highlighted the exceptional quality of Malaysia's healthcare system.

What struck Ker as truly remarkable during his experience was the bill, as he couldn't believe that the overall cost for such extensive care was so affordable.

Of course, the most shocking part is, the total bill was only RM30.50 (US$6.45).

Not sure if theres anywhere else in the world with this price, he added.

In a follow-up post, Ker expressed his admiration for the staff of the hospital, praising their dedication and professionalism.

He mentioned several medical professionals by name, including Dr Aaron, Dr Moi, Dr Rachel, Dr Yvonne, Dr Mah, and Nurse Sandy, thanking them for their outstanding care.

Everyones so friendly, patient, helpful, knowledgeable and extremely professional. Its so different from the stories Ive heard before.

He also conveyed his thanks to those who had sent well-wishes and provided support to his father during the process.

"I personally feel that Malaysia's healthcare system is the best in the world," said Richard, echoing the sentiments of many who were moved by his story.
