KANGAR: Mata Ayer assemblywoman Wan Badariah Wan Saad, who has been admitted to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital since May 14 for thyroid complications, is recuperating well.

Badariah, who is also an executive council member, is now able to communicate with visitors, but she will need further rest after her discharge tomorrow.

"Alhamdulillah, I am getting better, but the doctor has advised me to get full rest.

"I will need to revisit the hospital later for physiotherapy," she said during a visit from representatives of the Perlis Journalist Association, accompanied by her husband.

Badariah, 48, who holds the state's portfolios for Tourism, Cultural, Arts and Heritage, Women, Family, and Community Development, mentioned that her representative is currently handling her duties in serving the Mata Ayer constituents during her absence.

On May 15, it was reported that Badariah was intubated due to thyroid complications.

Meanwhile, Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli said Badariah would go on medical leave upon her discharge from the hospital.

"She needs to get good rest before returning to work. In the meantime, her exco duties are being temporarily handled by the other two exco members, Wan Zikri Afthar Ishak and Megat Hashirat Hashim," he said.
