ALOR STAR: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry issued a notice to a building materials supplier in Padang Serai near here for increasing the prices of bricks and sand yesterday.
The ministry's Kedah director, Muhammad Nizam Jamaludin, said this was done after it found price hikes in the building materials during an inspection following public complaints.
"An inspection of the premises in Padang Serai found increases in building material prices. As a result, a notice was issued for the items in question.
"The premises have been given six working days to respond to the ministry," he said when contacted today.
Meanwhile, Nizam urged consumers to report any issue related to price hikes to the ministry through its provided channels.
