TAMPIN: A Bangladeshi man was killed this morning when a hole he was in suffered a cave-in, burying him at the construction site of Taman Regent Gemencheh near here.

Tamping district police chief Supt Amiruddien Sariman said the victim's co-workers at the site rescued him, but the 29-year-old was confirmed dead at the Gemencheh health clinic, where he was receiving treatment at 11:25 am.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was in a seven-foot deep hole, measuring five feet wide, that had just been dug for sewage pipe installation for the housing project when the cave-in occurred," he said in a statement today, adding that the walls of the hole suddenly collapsed, covering the victim up to his head.

The body has been taken to Tampin Hospital for further action, he said, adding that the case is being classified as a sudden death.
