MELAKA: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia graced a tea reception held at Dataran Pengkalan Rama, here today.

On arrival at 5.30pm, His Majesty was greeted by the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka, Tun Mohd Ali Rustam, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh and state government leaders.

Visit Melaka 2024 (TMM2024) ambassador Fan Bing Bing was also present to enliven the ceremony.

About 12,000 guests attended the event, including 500 selected asnafs from Melaka Tengah who are beneficiaries of the Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation.

During the ceremony, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim was presented a painting from the Melaka state government as a momento of the event.

Sultan Ibrahim also spent nearly an hour mingling with guests before departing for a tour of the iconic Stadthuys Building in Banda Hilir.

The Tea Reception with the People was held in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim's two-day visit to Melaka commencing today.

The King is scheduled to officially open the Hang Tuah Exhibition, the Classic Royal Johor Automotive Exhibition and Malaysia Bike Week 2024 tomorrow at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh.

Later, His Majesty is slated to attend the Evening Banquet and Gita Citra Musical Performance at Encore Impression City Melaka. – BERNAMA
