IPOH: Police detained a man following the discovery of his mother's body in a house at Dataran Tasek Timur, Anjung Bercham, here, today.

The body of the woman in her 60s was found lying in the living room of the house with signs of injury and blood on her head.

The detention of the man in his 30s was confirmed by Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad when contacted.

He said the victim's body was taken to the Forensic Unit, Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) for further investigation.

"So far, there are no leads for the case to be classified as murder.

The post-mortem will be conducted tomorrow. At the moment, we are investigating it as a sudden death," he said.

Meanwhile, the victim's daughter, known as Denish, 27, said the last time she saw her mother was at midnight after she bought food.

Denish, who is eight months pregnant, later went out with a neighbor, N Sangeeta, to sleep at their friend's house due to a health check-up this morning.

"After the examination, I called my mother to inform her that I needed to be referred to the hospital due to low blood pressure.

"I called several times but there was no answer until I called another nearby friend to deliver food to my mother.

"After that, I received a call from a friend, who informed me that my mother had passed away," she said.
