MAKKAH: Another Malaysian pilgrim has passed away at the King Abdulaziz Hospital, six days after being admitted for a brain haemorrhage.

Zuraida Mohd Haris, 37, from Ampang, died at 8.15pm on Monday. Prayers were held for her at Masjidil Haram before she was laid to rest at the Syuhada Al-Haram Cemetery.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar offered his condolences to Zuraida's family, saying that management of the haj proxy would be borne by Tabung Haji's charity fund.

"Currently, Tabung Haji reports that five pilgrums have passed away due to burst blood vessels, heart attack, a breakdown in organ functions and brain haemorrhage," he told Malaysian media at TH's headquarters here.

Present were TH chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Hussain, its chief executive officer Syed Hamadah Syed Othman and Malaysian haj delegation head Datuk Seri Syed Saleh Sayed Abdul Rahman.

Na'im said 56 Malaysian pilgrims were currently being treated for various ailments.

All these, 43 are being treated at the TH Makkah Treatment Centre and the remainder at Saudi Arabian hospitals.

"These pilgrims are suffering from breathing issues caused by bacteria in the lungs, as well as other ailments such as heart problems, high blood pressure, emotional issues and muscle pains.

"InsyaAllah, the Tabung Haji medical team can treat them and ensure that they are stable and will recover," said Na'im.
