SHAH ALAM: The police will summon the caterer and organisers of a programme at a religious school in Sungai Chinchin to record their statements over two alleged food poisoning cases that have led to deaths.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the police are currently waiting for lab results to determine the type of poisoning.

"Checks from the hospital revealed that no other victims had come to receive treatment for food poisoning, but parents of one of the victims had said they have stomachaches, though it's not that serious.

"Both investigations are classified as sudden death (SDR), and we are awaiting the lab results to determine the type of poisoning.

"But what is confirmed is that the victims had eaten the same food from the programme," he said at a press conference here today.

He added that the Health Ministry had also closed down the caterer's operation at the school canteen.

Hussein assured that the police would summon those who are involved for questioning.

Earlier today, a 2-year-old girl died of suspected food poisoningdeath of a 17-year-old boy yesterday after eating food prepared at a school canteen here.

Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said his department received a report of the food poisoning from the families of both victims yesterday.
