KUALA LUMPUR: The investigation papers into columnist Andrew Sia regarding his article, "Our apartheid academy, UiTM", were referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers (A-GC) yesterday (June 4).

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain today (June 5) said they had taken Sia's statement.

"The investigation papers were completed and referred to the A-GC on June 4.

"We are waiting for instructions," he said when contacted.

Last Friday, Razarudin said police had received 63 reports, and that they had recorded statements from 65 people to help in the investigation into the allegation of UiTM practising an apartheid system.

He said the investigation involved 63 people who had made reports nationwide, as well as two people from news portals.

On May 24, police confirmed opening an investigation into Sia regarding his column alleging that UiTM practised an "apartheid" system.

This followed the first report made by a political party information chief, 37.

Sia had written about protests by Bumiputera students against non-Bumiputera students accepted for the cardiothoracic surgery programme at UiTM.
