JOHOR BARU: A Toyota Vios skidded and crashed into the gate of Istana Besar here yesterday (June 2).
Johor Baru Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the 25-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle due to slippery road in the 3pm incident. There were no passengers in the car.
"The car skidded and no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
"We found that the driver was not intoxicated and his urine test returned negative for drugs," he said today (June 3).
He added that the driver did not sustain any injuries and has been released on police bail.
"The case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
A video of a Toyota Vios crashing into the palace gate went viral. The gate was slightly damaged.
