PUTRAJAYA: The government has agreed to award the management contract for Kuala Lumpur Tower (KL Tower) to two companies, for 20 years.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the two companies, LSH Best Builders Sdn Bhd and Service Master (M) Sdn Bhd, had fulfilled all the requirements during the bidding process.

"Five companies had submitted their tenders and proposals to continue the KL Tower operations and two were selected by the Public-Private Partnership Unit under the Prime Minister's Department.

"Both of the companies are doing joint ventures and have met the requirements (of the contract).

"There were also no issues identified in the screenings done and the next step now is to issue the appointment letter to the companies," he said in his weekly post-cabinet press conference as government spokesman.

In December 2022, Fahmi said he would examine the issues of the KL Tower acquisition from Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) through its subsidiary Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd by Hydroshoppe Sdn Bhd.

He had also called for an official probe to be carried out into the claims of the transfer of ownership.

Fahmi had also said he had been briefed on the matter by the ministry's officers and would be meeting with TM in January 2023.
