KUALA LUMPUR: The Mercy Malaysia International Humanitarian Conference (MMIHC) 2024, which gathers global humanitarian actors, practitioners, and stakeholders, will take place in Kuala Lumpur today until Wednesday (May 29).

MMIHC 2024, held at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia campus here, promises to be a transformative event, addressing pressing issues and fostering collaboration to drive meaningful humanitarian action.

Building on the success of its predecessor in 2019, which drew over 400 participants, the MMIHC 2024 aims to confront complex challenges such as increasing fragility and conflict, climate crisis, health emergencies, and economic disruptions in the humanitarian landscape.

The conference serves as a platform for leading thinkers and practitioners to share best practices, lessons learned, and innovative approaches to address these multifaceted issues.

"This conference serves as an avenue for professionals and stakeholders to gain insights and expertise, enabling them to effectively pursue their goals in enhancing professional competence and contributing to the advancementof resilience and life transformations within the realm of humanitarian endeavors," said Mercy Malaysia president Datuk Dr. Ahmad Faizal Mohd Perdaus.

The MMIHC 2024 will be graced by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, who is the Royal Patron of Mercy Malaysia.

Sultan Nazrin will deliver a royal plenary session and officiate the event on Tuesday (May 28).

Aligned with MERCY Malaysia's Humanitarian Development Nexus Agenda, MMIHC 2024 will drive and deliver the organisation's 2030 Strategic Plan, titled 'Delivering Meaningful Humanitarian Action'.

Participants will take part in a diverse programme featuring technical workshops, training sessions, lunch talks, ignite stage sessions, café talks, fireside chats, exhibitions, networking opportunities, and a conference dinner.
