KUALA LUMPUR: The body of Malaysia Airlines flight attendant Norzana Hanim Hamzah, who died while on a layover in Tokyo, will be flown back on Thursday (May 23).
Her sister, Norzarita Hanum, said Norzana's remains were expected to arrive that morning.
She said her sister's body would then go through funeral rights before being buried at the Kampung Melaka Hulu Langat Muslim cemetery in Cheras.
Last night, Norzarita had posted on Instagram that she was hoping that her sister's body would be returned by this evening or tomorrow morning.
"Alhamdulillah thank you for your prayers and salam takziah. InsyaAllah she will be flown back to Malaysia either tomorrow (Tuesday evening) or Wednesday morning," she said.
Norzana was found dead in her room while on a layover in Tokyo after completing a flight to Narita International Airport.
She was scheduled to work on a return flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Airlines had confirmed.
Norzana's death first came to light when a Facebook page dedicated to cabin crew members worldwide said, according to sources, that Norzana had passed away before pick-up for her return to Malaysia.
"The cause of death has yet to be confirmed, but unconfirmed reports from the MH (the code for Malaysia Airlines) crew community suggest she possibly suffered a fall while getting ready for her return flight," read the post on Facebook.
