KUALA LUMPUR: The tree that fell in Jalan Pinang this evening damaged a police vehicle that was escorting Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh's convoy.

It is understood the police vehicle, a Proton X70, was escorting a three-vehicle convoy, one of which was carrying Rauf to an event in the city centre.

The occupants of the vehicle are reportedly safe.

When contacted, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed the incident.

As of yet, no further details are available, though it is also understood that Rauf was unharmed.

Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur Command and Control Centre (KLC3) said it dispatched a team to Jalan Pinang to assist.
