GUA MUSANG: A 29-year-old Bangladeshi man was killed after being trampled by an elephant in Pos Blau here yesterday.

District police chief superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the incident happened at Kampung Om estate about 5pm.

He said police received a report on the incident about 9.40pm and immediately sent a team to the scene to investigate the case.

"When arrived at the scene, police found a body of a man lying on the ground in a pool of blood with serious injuries on his stomach.

"Investigation showed that the victim and a friend were attacked by an elephant while they were returning home about 5pm yesterday.

"According to his friend, he managed to escape from the jumbo while the victim failed to run away," he said.

He added police have ruled out any foul play in the incident and has classified the case as sudden death.

"The police are still carrying out further investigation into the case.

"We hope the public will not make any speculation on the case and respect the victim's family privacy," he added.
