KUALA LUMPUR: Bidding for the exclusive registration numbers featuring the "FFF" prefix officially begins today and will run until May 15.

The bid was launched by Transport Minister Anthony Loke at the Malaysia Road Transport Academy here, in conjunction with the 78th Road Transport Department (RTD) anniversary celebration.

Loke said the FFF series continues from the "F" series introduced every year during the department's anniversary celebration.

"We have previously released the F, FA, FB, and FC series, and last year the FF series. We believe these alphabetical numbers are very appealing to the public, so this year we have introduced the FFF series.

"Last year, the "GOLD" series generated returns of RM17 million, and this time we hope the bidding collection can reach RM20 million," he said.

Loke said the bidding aims to generate additional funds for initiatives such as free helmet distribution, Perkeso top-up contributions for 40,000 taxi drivers, rental cars, and school buses, sponsorship of Public Service Vehicle (PSV) and B2 licences for the B40 community.

"The exchange for free helmets is highly popular and well received at every programme we implement. With a cost of RM50, we want the public to use safe helmets," he said.

The bidding will be held for five days online on the JPJeBid System starting today and ending on May 15 at 10pm.
