SIK: A man managed to escape his Volkswagen Golf car before it caught fire after falling into a ravine on Jalan Bukit Sebelah, here, today.

Sik Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Assistant Fire Superintendent Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil, said the 36-year-old man did not suffer any injuries.

He said they received a call about the incident at 1.53am and a team of Sik Fire and Rescue personnel led by Senior Fire Officer II Soffuan Sabry arrived at the scene with seven members.He said that during the incident, the victim was believed to be driving alone from Pekan Sik towards Baling.

"Fire and Rescue personnel extinguished the fire until it was completely put out at the scene."He explained that the incident occurred while he was driving, and he perceived the road to be straight when it was actually a corner," he said here today.

Zulkhairi said the victim's Volkswagen Golf car, however, was almost 90 percent destroyed by the fire.

He said the case was handed over to the police and the Forensic Unit of the Fire and Rescue Department Kedah for investigation.
