KUALA LUMPUR: The wife of the bodyguard injured in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) shooting incident is grateful and relieved to learn that the suspect in the incident has been arrested.

"I am grateful and relieved. May he receive appropriate punishment," she said.

The woman, who wishes to be known as Siti Noraida, 28, also thanked the police and all parties involved in the arrest of the suspect.

Earlier today, the suspect, Hafizul Harawi, 38, was arrested in Kota Baru at around 3pm.

Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, who confirmed the arrest, said that the suspect was detained in Kota Baru, Kelantan.

Meanwhile, the director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, said police are expected to present the suspect at the Kota Baru court tomorrow morning in order to obtain a remand order.

In the incident at 1.30am yesterday, a man fired two shots, one of which struck his wife's bodyguard. The victim is currently receiving treatment at a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
