SHAH ALAM: An 79-year-old man died in a house fire at Jalan Keretapi Lama, Batu 9, last night while his brother escaped unscathed.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the victim's brother was rescued by the public in the 10.26pm incident.
Mukhlis said a team of 15 firefighters from the Kapar, Sungai Pinang and Kota Raja stations, led by operations commander Nurul Azman Muhammadan, were deployed to the scene.
"The house was 90 per cent damaged by the fire. While my men were conducting overhaul operations, they discovered the elderly man's body under a pile of wood," he said in a statement today.
