PUTRAJAYA: Amanah Raya Berhad (AmanahRaya) and Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) today inked a strategic deal for Rumah Mesra Rakyat homeowners to receive legacy planning products.

The collaborative strategic agreement would benefit eligible Malaysians with household incomes below RM5,000 who purchase SPNB's Rumah Mesra Rakyat.

These homeowners would automatically be offered AmanahRaya's hibah and will as part of legacy planning for the homes purchased.

The signing was witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, together with AmanahRaya chairman Tan Sri Idrus Harun and SPNB chairman Datuk Husam Musa, at Perdana Putra, here.

Idrus said the initiative would provide exposure to the public on the importance of estate planning and wealth management through hibah and will instruments to ensure the safekeeping of the estate of heirs and recipients.

"AmanahRaya, which has been given the mandate to be the trustee for Malaysians for over 100 years, is heartened to be part of this strategic collaboration with SPNB.

"It will ensure the welfare of heirs are protected in the event of demise of the homeowners," he said.

Meanwhile, Husam said SPNB would be implementing a total of 3,500 Rumah Mesra Rakyat units this year.

In total, he said SPNB had implemented 66,195 units of Rumah Mesra Rakyat nationwide.

"SPNB is a company owned by the Minister of Finance Incorporated which was established and founded by Anwar on Aug 21, 1997, to provide quality and sustainable affordable housing to every family in Malaysia in line with the national housing policy.

"This collaboration will benefit Rumah Mesra Rakyat homeowners by ensuring continuous house ownership by their heirs in the future with a payment as low as RM1,000," he added.

The agreement was signed by AmanahRaya group managing director Ahmad Feizal Sulaiman Khan and SPNB acting chief executive officer Zahanuddin Kamarudin.
