KUALA LUMPUR: Muslims congregate in Masjid Negara for this year's World #QuranHour (WQH) 2024 today.

Themed "Ummah #GrandReset: Unity and Social Transformation", the ninth WQH was attended by Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia.

This year, Al-Jumu'ah, the 62nd surah in the Quran, was selected for WQH.

The theme Ummah #GrandReset calls on Muslims across the world to socially transform with the target of three Us — Ulama', Umara' and Ummah.

Organisers said Surah Al-Jumu'ah was an apt choice as it served as a model for building unity and strong social transformation.

Yayasan Warisan Ummah Ikhlas (WUIF) chief executive officer Marhaini Yusoff said the queen's participation in this year's programme is significant.

"The country's constitutional monarchy is a symbol of unity among people of various races and religions.

"Guidance from Surah Al-Jumu'ah serves as a model for building unity and strong social transformation ... that is intended to be instilled in leaders, religious scholars, and the community," he said.

The one-hour programme was broadcast live on major TV networks.

A lecture was delivered by Perak Deputy Mufti Datuk Zamri Hashim, while Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (Usim) student Munqiz Mohd Subki led the recitation of the World Quran Hour pledge.

Also present were Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan and Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim.
