PUTRAJAYA: PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail will meet PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today to discuss the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

He said that the meeting with Anwar today would discuss the nearest date for the coalition to meet over the by-election.

"Because the Election Commission (EC) has just announced April 27 as the nomination day. So, since it has just been announced, this afternoon, I will be meeting with the Prime Minister at his office, and of course, I will review the nearest date for us to convene to discuss the topic of the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election."

He said that only in the meeting that they will then finalise in terms of the parties contesting in the by-election.

"We will hear from the respective parties to present their list of candidates. Then we will discuss matters regarding the election machinery preparation, logistics, and so on. That's usually how it goes.

"So that's the arrangement. I will discuss this (on setting the dates for the meeting) shortly with Anwar."

Saifuddin however said that such a meeting would be only for PH and not with other parties in the unity government.

"I am speaking as the PH secretary-general. So, we will settle PH's affairs first," he said.

Earlier today, the EC fixed May 11 for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election. The by-election is being held following the death of its three-term assemblywoman Lee Kee Hiong from DAP.
