KUALA LUMPUR: Police have yet to receive any reports involving a Palestinian man residing in the country, who claimed he received threats from individuals from Israel.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the man had uploaded a clip on his social media platform claiming that he had been contacted by individuals from Israel several times.

"I have checked, and there have been no reports from the man until today. Therefore, how are we supposed to investigate (the claims).

"The police, however, have contacted the man.

"We found that the man uploaded on TikTok claiming he was not safe in the country," he told reporters here today.

Yesterday, a Palestinian man, Yousuf Abuassi, 28, was reported to have said that he received threats from several Israeli citizens, for frequently uploading content about oppression in Gaza.

He claimed to have received threats about a month ago before filing a police report.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian government has warned the public to be cautious over those leveraging on Malaysians' generosity for their benefit.

Its ambassador to Malaysia, Walid Abu Ali, said reports of Palestinians being threatened in the country should be taken with a degree of caution.

Commenting on a recent news report in which a Palestinian man in Malaysia had claimed he had received threatening phone calls from Israelis, Walid said such claims need to be verified.

He said the embassy has not received any direct threats against the Palestinian community in Malaysia.

Wali also questioned why the claim was made only after the recent arrest of a suspected Israeli spy in Malaysia. He said the man also did not lodge any report with the embassy.
