The announcement was made by Sarawak Women, Children, and Community Wellbeing Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, who highlighted the government's ongoing support for its citizens.

From Jan to March 2024, the department has allocated RM64,495,350 in aid, benefitting 54,321 individuals across Sarawak.

The assistance includes various welfare programs like Elderly Aid, Children's Aid, General Aid, Allowance for Disabled Workers, Caretaker Aid for Disabled/Chronic Patients, Foster Child Aid, and Youth Assistance.

Fatimah made these remarks during the Sejambak Kasih Hari Raya Aidilfitri program at the Dalat Welfare Complex Hall. She highlighted that the Dalat district itself accounted for 1,452 of the recipients, with specific contributions made to 602 Muslim beneficiaries during the event.

The minister underscored the Sarawak Welfare Department's tradition of distributing monetary aid and festive hampers through the Sejambak Kasih initiative over more than two decades.

Following the event in Dalat, Fatimah continued to distribute Eid al-Fitr contributions to 493 underprivileged individuals at the At-Taqwa Oya Mosque, further extending the outreach to the needy in the Dalat constituency.
