KULIM: Police have submitted 87 investigation papers on race, religion and royalty (3R) issues to the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) since last year.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the 87 were among the 170 complaints received nationwide.
"Since last year, we have received about 170 complaints. We have completed investigation into 87 cases and have submitted the papers to the AGC.
"The rest of the 3R cases are being investigated under the Penal Code, the MCMC (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission) or the Sedition Act," he told reporters after presenting cash aid and dates to 100 imam from Kulim, Baling and Kuala Muda districts under the police's Ihya Ramadan programme at the Kulim district police headquarters today.
Present were Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and Kedah police chief Datuk Fisol Salleh.
Saifuddin reminded the public not to touch on 3R issues on social media platforms.
"WhatsApp, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram or Telegram — those are the medium.
"If the message is being shared or circulated around, the person will be investigated if a report is lodged."
Earlier in his speech, Saifuddin urged the imam to make good use of the mosque as platform to spread awareness of the dangers of playing up 3R issues.
