KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today performed Friday prayers at the Istiqlal Mosque in Osaka together with Muslims from various countries.

Zahid, who has been in Japan on a working visit since Feb 17, said the mosque is located in a strategic place and is among the most important houses of worship in the area.

"This mosque can accommodate up to 1,500 congregants. The five-level prayer area was packed with Muslims," he said in his official Facebook post.

He wished Muslims including Malaysians in Osaka success in all their undertakings. -- Bernama
