KUANTAN: Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today reminded the 10 state executive council (exco) members to always prioritise the people's interests.

The ruler emphasised that the focus should be on the people's wellbeing and all promises to provide aid to the people must be fulfilled.

"I am a sultan who is result-oriented and people-centric. The people come first and assistance for them has to be delivered.

"(State exco members) must provide the necessary help. I pray everyone will carry out their duties diligently, sincerely and work towards developing the state," he said at Istana Abdulaziz here.

Al-Sultan Abdullah had earlier handed the appointment letter to Pelangai assemblyman Datuk Amizar Abu Adam who was sworn in as a state exco member.

Al-Sultan Abdullah said Amizar was lucky as he was the first state exco member to take the oath of office in front of him as the sultan of Pahang after the ruler completed his five-year reign as king.

Meanwhile, Amizar, when met after the ceremony, said his appointment came as a surprise as he was only informed about it at 1pm today.

"I was in my constituency when I received the call about 1pm and made preparations to come to the palace for the ceremony. I am extremely grateful to Tuanku (Al-Sultan Abdullah) and Menteri Besar (Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail) for placing their trust in me.

"This is a huge responsibility and I will do my best. The menteri besar has a big agenda for the people in Pahang and I am grateful to be part of his plans."
