KOTA SAMARAHAN: In a bid to invigorate the entrepreneurial spirit among the rural youth, the Rural and Regional Development Ministry has announced a RM15 million business grant.

The Sarawak Public Communications Unit revealed that the grant aims to attract young business minds to participate in the 'Rural Business Challenge (RBC) 2.0', an initiative to foster innovation and growth in rural business ventures.

Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang, in her address, said the ministry has extended the participation period for RBC 2.0 to encourage a higher number of applications from registered entrepreneurs.

As of January 29, approximately 1,150 entrepreneurs, out of 5,917 accounts registered in the system, have submitted the applications.

"I hope this extension will result in an increased number of quality applications from potential rural entrepreneurs, from which we can identify deserving winners," Rubiah was quoted as saying.

In urging residents of Samarahan to seize this opportunity, she highlighted the Mini Carnival of Rural Entrepreneurs (KUD) as an excellent platform for potential candidates to gain further insight into the competition.

The RBC 2.0 competition offers a substantial grant pool amounting to RM15 million, a significant incentive for those who aspire to make entrepreneurship their chosen career path.

This initiative is a part of the government's efforts to transform the rural economy, aligning with the concept of 'Advanced, Attractive, and Profitable' to develop the socio-economic status of rural communities.
