KUALA LANGAT: One man died while another was injured after being buried in a landslide incident at a quarry area in Bandar Saujana Putra, Banting, today.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said the deceased victim was successfully extricated by firefighters at 6.42pm, while the injured individual was rescued by the public before the rescue team arrived.

He said the department received a report about the incident at 4.32pm, and subsequently, a team of officers and members from the Telok Panglima Garang Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the location.

"Upon arriving at the location, it was found that a landslide had occurred in the quarry area with a depth of 1.2 metres (four feet).

"There were two local male victims in their 30s who were buried and one victim was successfully extricated by the public before the fire department arrived.

"The victim extricated by the public sustained injuries and was sent to Putrajaya Hospital, while the deceased victim was successfully extricated about two hours later by the fireman," he said.
