JOHOR BARU: Five vehicles were damaged when a fire broke out at a car accessories workshop in Jalan Sagu 15, Taman Daya, here, yesterday.

The damaged vehicles, parked within the premises, were two Toyota Alphard, a Mazda SUV, a Honda CRV and a Toyota Corolla Altis.

The fire destroyed about fifty per cent of the workshop's permanent structure.

Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Shamsul Khomari Bakar said 24 firefighters were dispatched to the workshop following the 9.48pm distress call.

"The operation went on past midnight. The fire was completely doused at about 12.08am," Shamsul said, adding that the accessories in the workshop were mostly combustible, which required more effort to put the fire out.

"We are currently conducting investigations to determine the cause of the fire and assess the estimated damages," he said.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, as the workshop was not in operation at the time of the incident.
